I'ts Official!

I made my plane reservations today, and I'm so excited.  I'm going to MAINE!!! the first week in October.  It should be the perfect time of the year to see the fall foliage and enjoy the cool weather.  I took a trip to New England last October but ran out of time before we got to see Maine.  I'm making up for it this year.  Someone told me that they have lobster rolls at the McDonalds in Maine!!  Can you believe it?  I foresee a lot of lobster rolls in my future.  That's the kind of fast food that I could get used to loving.

I'll be in the same state as Julie from Dog Trot Farm!  My son and I used to joke that we should visit Maine because it would be "lobstah fun!"  I want to take lots of photos and enjoy the cool air and peace.  Someone told me that it's very peaceful there.  I could definitely get used to peaceful.  I fell in love with New England last year, especially Vermont; but Maine may run a close second.  I'm hoping to see a lot of scenery, maybe go kayaking, eat some good food, spend time with some great people, and fall in love with Maine.

I'm looking forward to the break from work and to having some time to just relax with my daughter, granddaughter, and our friends from Maine.   Anyone have any ideas for a gift for my hosts?  I'd like to take them something really special from Virginia.

Ginny, you're visiting Maine! Oh, please do not order a lobster roll from McDonalds, you will be very sorry! You need to experience a real MAINE lobster roll. May I ask what area you will be visiting? could you end up in my neck of the woods! I would love to meet you.

Genny - How exciting! My older sister used to go to Maine every year when I was a kid. Once I went with her, and I fell in love with Maine, too! I've been there several times since then, and always have loved it there!

Lets see, you asked what to bring... Virginia has it's Smithfield ham. And Virginia peanuts. If she likes wine you can bring a bottle of local Virginia wine. Maybe Washington DC souvenirs? None of these ideas jump out at me, I'll have to think of good local gifts & get back to you!

I know - if you'd really like to surprise your hosts, you can have one of my Maryland roosters to bring to them!!! I'm fed up with the roosters right now! I just found out my chicken saddles don't deter roosters from having their way! What is wrong with my roosters?!

Anyway, back to your trip - I know you'll have a great time! Take lots of pics for us to enjoy!

Julie: I'm going to visit my daughter's in-laws at Bryant Pond. Is that close to you? It would be so wonderful to meet you! I will be on the look out for a *real* lobster roll and pass on the McDondalds. Thanks for heads up.

Lynn: HAHAAhaaa! They would be so surprised if I brought them a rooster, wouldn't they? I bet the TSA folks at Dulles would be really surprised too! Can I take wine in my luggage? That would be a great gift from one of the local wineries. There are some really good wines. Horton's XOCO, chocolate raspberry, is one of my favorites.

Jayne: Thank you! I can't wait. I know it will be so beautiful that time of year. I wish you could all come with me. It would be so much fun!

Genny, if you would like to e-mail me please do. Bryant Pond is 1 1/2 hours North of me. However, if you are flying into Portland I am just 25 minutes away.
